05 day chimpanzee gorilla tour takes you to Rwanda’s Nyungwe forest for chimpanzee trekking and Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park for mountain gorilla trekking tour in the wild. Fantastic tour choice exploring Rwanda’s best primate species and the genocide memorial sites, setting off from Kigali.
Day1: Kigali – Nyungwe National Park
You will be picked up by our company driver/guide from either a hotel or Kigali International Airport for a transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park. En route, you’ll visit the king’s palace museum, the Ethnographic museum, and the Murambi Genocide memorial, among others. And later you will proceed with your drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park for check-in, dinner, and an overnight stay at your hotel.
Day2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walkway
Early morning after breakfast, you will be expected at the starting point for the chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe Forest. You will receive a briefing ahead of your chimps and the forest. After you enter into the tropical forest to search for the chimp. You will spot several chimpanzees swinging from one tree branch to another. After the trek, you will exit the forest and head back to your hotel for a late breakfast or an early lunch.
After lunch, you go for the canopy walk experience in Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will walk on this canopy bridge starting from the Uwinka visitor center and get to view the forest from the top. You will later return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Enjoy a delicious breakfast at your hotel before setting off on a scenic drive toward Volcanoes National Park, home to the famous mountain gorillas. Upon arrival, check in at your reserved lodge in Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel. Meal Plan: F/B
Day4: Gorilla Trekking and visit the Gorilla Guardians
Have breakfast and head to the Kinigi Park offices for briefing on the code of conduct when trekking the mountain gorillas. After locating the creatures, you will be allowed one hour to observe then in their natural habitat. Later, you’ll retrieve the starting point; meet up with your guide for a drive back to your lodge. In the evening, you will visit the Iby’wacu Cultural Village where you will learn more about the Rwandan cultural practices. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at your hotel.
Day5: Golden Monkey – Transfer back to Kigali
Today, after breakfast, you’ll transfer again to the briefing area, but this time for golden monkey trekking. You will receive a briefing at the park headquarters before you start your golden monkey trek, just like the previous day. You will still be allowed only one hour to observe them. You can return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, the driver-guide will transfer you to Kigali to return to your hotel or departure.
